The most recent work is largely in encaustic, the wax giving a “flesh-like” texture to these “photo-realist” pieces. I started painting photo realist as a result of events that “shocked me into reality," thus the method was chosen for greater emotional impact. Much of the work is a cut down of an image, similar to media images, that is then enlarged. Several canvasses are made up of separated pieces, creating a tension as the eye joins the pieces like a jigsaw puzzle.
